The Supreme Court Middle Income Group Legal Aid Society sought to transfer a civil suit filed against it in Ludhiana to Patiala House Court, New Delhi. The suit concerned a refund claim of Rs. 8,500 deposited in 2009 for legal services. The respondent did not contest the transfer petition despite opportunity. The Court found that continuing proceedings in Ludhiana would prejudice the legal aid society's functioning. Accordingly, the transfer petition was allowed and the suit was transferred to the appropriate court at Patiala House, New Delhi.
