The Supreme Court found the evidence clearly showed the deceased earned Rs.6,000 monthly, and corrected the High Court's assessment. Using 50% of actual wages (Rs.3,000) multiplied by the relevant factor of 197.06 and adding Rs.5,000 funeral expenses, the Court enhanced compensation to Rs.5,96,180 with 12% interest from one month after death.
