Sushil Kumar Jindal vs Aasia Begum

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

The appellant challenged an eviction order requiring him to surrender a rented property based on the landlord's bonafide requirement. The High Court had upheld the Rent Controller's decision finding the landlord's requirement genuine. The Supreme Court, finding no grounds to interfere, dismissed the appeal but granted the appellant reasonable time (until 31 December 2017) to vacate the premises. During this period, the appellant was required to pay monthly rent and file an undertaking, allowing for an orderly transition while respecting both parties' interests.
