In Brief
Ms. Indira Jaising, counsel for an intervenor in earlier Supreme Court proceedings concerning judicial independence, filed a Miscellaneous Application seeking expungement of remarks in the Court's previous judgment. She contended that observations about conduct of petitioners and intervenors amounted to remarks against her personally constituting contempt of court. The Court held that the observations adverted to the collective conduct of petitioners and intervenors, not the applicant individually. The findings were based on arguments made during hearing. Distinguishing between counsel's identification with an intervenor and Court's remarks on collective conduct, the Court disposed of the application as lacking merit.
