The Supreme Court held that the income assessment for calculating future economic loss was too low. It increased the monthly income base from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000, applied a multiplier of 15 years, and substantially increased compensation for pain and suffering from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 4,00,000. The total compensation awarded was raised to Rs. 15,42,800 with 7.5% per annum interest from the date of claim petition."
