In Brief
Anand Agriculture University appealed against a High Court judgment directing it to regularize daily wagers who had completed 10 years of continuous service. The Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision, finding that a prior Supreme Court judgment in Gujarat Agricultural University had approved a scheme for phase-wise regularization of all eligible daily wagers. The Court held that this binding judgment survives the later Umadevi judgment on regularization, and that the university cannot discriminatorily regularize some eligible workers while denying regularization to others. The appeals were dismissed.
