In Brief
Vinod @ Sai D. Ghogale, serving over seven years of a ten-year sentence in a criminal conviction, sought bail pending appeal. His co-accused, similarly situated, had already been granted bail. The Supreme Court held that in view of the substantial period already served and the parity principle applicable to co-accused, the appellant should be enlarged on bail. Bail was granted on furnishing security of Rs. 25,000 with two sureties of equal amount, unless the appellant was required to be detained in any other case. Appeal disposed of.
