In Brief
A senior advocate was accused of contempt of court for making disparaging statements and letters about judges and contemplating scandalous resolutions through his bar association. The High Court of Gujarat initiated contempt proceedings. On appeal to the Supreme Court, the advocate filed two sincere and unconditional apologies, acknowledging his emotional conduct and reaffirming his deep respect for the judiciary. The Court, satisfied of the genuineness of his repentance, exonerated him while emphasizing that the dignity of courts is paramount and any future similar conduct would constitute contempt. The appeal was disposed of and High Court proceedings were closed.
