2020 Delhi Riots Case: Supreme Court to Hear Umar Khalid and Others Bail Plea on November 11

Today (November 06, 2025), the Supreme Court (SC) of India was hearing bail pleas filed by Umar Khalid and others, booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots. The SC bench of Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice NV Anjaria was hearing the case. Today, the top court heard the contentions of the petitioner's side and listed the matter for hearing on Tuesday (November 11, 2025).  

Umar Khalid and others, including Gulfisha Fatima, Shifa Ur Rehman, and Meeran Haider, had moved the apex court against the September 2 decision of the Delhi High Court, which denied them bail. Senior Advocate Sidharth Luthra appeared for the accused and submitted his contentions. As the matter was heard today around 2 PM; therefore, the two-judge bench was not able to hear both parties. The matter was therefore listed for hearing on November 11.
