In Brief
The appellants challenged their land acquisition compensation award of ₹5 lakhs per acre. A connected case concerning the same acquisition had been decided earlier by this Court, awarding similarly situated parties ₹6.5 lakhs per acre. Finding the appellants to be in an identical position, the Court allowed their appeal and raised the compensation to ₹6.5 lakhs per acre with statutory benefits. However, no statutory benefits were granted for the period of delay in litigation.
