The Supreme Court dismissed special leave petitions challenging a High Court order that declined to entertain a reference to a larger bench. The petitioners sought reconsideration of reservation rules for lecturer recruitment in aided colleges. However, the same core issues had already been decided by a Division Bench in Dr. Vishwajeet Singh's case, which the Supreme Court had affirmed. The Court held that once a High Court decision is affirmed by the Supreme Court after grant of leave, it merges into the Supreme Court order and becomes binding law; a larger bench cannot subsequently revisit such affirmed decisions. The Court found the larger bench was correct in refusing the reference and dismissed the petitions.
