In this 2014 criminal appeal, two police officers—Bhagwan Dass (Sub-Inspector) and Magan Singh (Assistant Sub-Inspector)—challenged their conviction for illegal detention and custodial torture of a detainee in 1992. The trial court had acquitted them, but the High Court reversed the acquittal and convicted them to two years' imprisonment under IPC Sections 326, 331, 343 and 346.
