In Brief
The Bihar State Beverages Corporation appointed employees from other organizations on deputation or contract basis. When the Corporation later refused to grant 6th Pay Revision Committee benefits to these employees (offering only parent organization salaries instead), they challenged this. The Supreme Court held that since the Corporation has no permanent employees—only deputation/contract staff—the Finance Department's distinction was illogical. The Court affirmed the Division Bench's direction to grant 6th PRC pay scales to all employees, applying the principle of equal pay for equal work. However, this benefit applies only during deputation; upon repatriation to parent organizations, employees follow their original pay scales."
