In Brief
The appellant, the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination Board, challenged a High Court order that had directed the admission of a visually disabled candidate (respondent) based on a hospital certificate showing 40% disability. The Board's authorized Medical Board had assessed the same candidate at 20% disability. The Supreme Court held that disability percentage must be determined solely by the Medical Board established per the prospectus, not by courts or external hospitals. Since courts cannot assess medical matters, the High Court erred in interfering with the selection process. The Court set aside the High Court's order and allowed the appeal.
