The Delhi Development Authority appealed against a decision regarding land acquisition. The court found that although the acquisition award was issued on 7 January 1999, possession of the land was never taken, and no stay order protected the acquisition. Applying Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013, the court held that the acquisition had lapsed. The appeal was accordingly dismissed.
