The Delhi Development Authority appealed against a lower court order regarding a disputed land acquisition. The acquisition award was issued on 7 January 1999, but possession was never taken. The Supreme Court held that since no stay order was in place and possession was not taken, the acquisition had lapsed under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. Accordingly, the Court dismissed the appeal without costs.
