In Brief
The Delhi Development Authority appealed against a stay order that it claimed prevented the Collector from passing a land acquisition award within the statutory deadline under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. The Supreme Court found the appeal meritless, noting that there was no stay order in effect after 2010. The Court held that a previously-lifted stay order cannot excuse non-compliance with the time-bound obligation to pass an award. The appeal was dismissed.
