In Brief
The Supreme Court dismissed the Delhi Development Authority's appeal in a land acquisition dispute. The Court held that under the RFCTLARR Act 2013, if the Authority fails to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings within one year by issuing a formal notification under Section 11, it must return possession of the land to the original owner. The Authority was given a one-year grace period from the judgment date to restart the acquisition process; failure to do so would result in automatic reversion of the land to Usha Devi and others.
