In Brief
The Delhi State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. appealed against a dismissal of its land acquisition proceedings. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, holding that earlier decisions against the Delhi Development Authority on the same issue are controlling. However, the Court granted the appellant a one-year period to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. If no fresh notification is issued within this period, the appellant must return physical possession of the land to the original owner."
