Government of Andhra Pradesh & Ors vs Grace Sathyavathy Shashikant & Ors

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

The Supreme Court heard review petitions filed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh challenging a Single Judge's decision recognizing the appellants' land rights to a plot in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad (Survey No. 129/45/D). The Court affirmed the Single Judge's judgment and rejected the Government's attempt to deny the plot's existence. Relying on a prior High Court judgment and multiple Government Orders acknowledging both the plot's existence and the owner's title, the Court held that the Government cannot dispute what it had itself officially recognized. The Court set aside a non-compliant Committee Report and ordered the Government to properly demarcate the land within eight weeks."
