In Brief
A handicapped tenant couple running a small tailoring shop from rented premises challenged their eviction order. The landlord, a retired doctor, sought to reclaim the premises to establish a medical clinic. Although the tenant's appeal on the merits concerning arrears of rent was dismissed, the Supreme Court granted them reasonable time (until 1 May 2019) to vacate and find alternative accommodation, taking into account their vulnerable status, unmarried daughters, and the fact that the entire family resided in the premises. The Court emphasised no further extensions would be permitted.
