In Brief
A husband and wife settled their matrimonial disputes amicably through a mediation process. The husband agreed to pay the wife ₹11,51,000 towards full and final settlement of all claims. Both parties agreed to withdraw all cases against each other, including proceedings under Section 125 of the CrPC and the Domestic Violence Act. As the parties wished to lead their lives independently, the Supreme Court exercised its power under Article 142 of the Constitution to annul the marriage and dispose of the transfer petition on the basis of the settlement agreement signed by both parties.
