In Brief
A public electricity distribution company (Appellant No.1) had absorbed employees from Rural Electrification Cooperative Societies but applied different rules to employees from different societies regarding pay revision benefits. The Court held that the company cannot discriminate: if it extended the 2001 pay revision to absorbed employees from some societies, it must extend the same to all similarly-situated absorbed employees, including those from Rewa Society. The Court also mandated that the Sixth and Seventh Pay Commission benefits be extended to all REC Society employees from the date the parent company's employees received them, with any arrears due within three months.
