In Brief
This interlocutory order in the consolidated Ayodhya land dispute appeals (Civil Appeals 10866-10867/2010 and related cases) rejected numerous applications for intervention and impleadment by third parties. The Court permitted only parties to the appeals to file further applications. Importantly, the judgment addressed a submission that the Constitution Bench's decision in Dr. M. Ismail Faruqui (1994) 6 SCC 360 requires reconsideration. The three-Judge Bench decided to hear arguments on whether the matter warrants referral to a larger Bench for that review. All procedural interlocutory applications filed by the parties themselves were allowed. The matter was adjourned for further hearings.
