In Brief
Magma HDI General Insurance Co. Ltd challenged the High Court's handling of insurance compensation appeals arising from the same accident. The Supreme Court held that the High Court should have heard the insurance company's appeal jointly with the claimant's cross-appeal for enhanced compensation, rather than separately. The Court remanded the matter to the High Court to decide all related appeals together afresh, applying principles from the Constitution Bench decision in National Insurance Co. Ltd. v. Pranay Sethi & Ors. (2017) 16 SCC 680.
