In Brief
The Medical Council of India challenged a High Court interim order directing a private medical institution to admit MBBS students without obtaining required regulatory permissions. The Supreme Court allowed the appeal and set aside the interim order. The Court held that admissions made pursuant to interim orders remain conditional on the final outcome of the underlying petition and students cannot independently claim rights therefrom. Since the relevant academic year had already concluded, the matter was academic and no further examination was warranted. The original writ petition was dismissed.
