Multiple civil appeals were filed by government employees (led by P. Venkateswarlu) against the State of Andhra Pradesh seeking continuance in service beyond the normal retirement age up to 60 years of age. The Supreme Court granted leave in the special leave petitions and disposed of all appeals by referring to an earlier connected judgment dated 09.08.2017 (Civil Appeal No. 10273 of 2017 & batch) which had already addressed the same issue concerning retirement age benefits for government employees.
