Rachit Sinha & Ors vs Union of India & Ors

Bench: 2 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

This judgment clarifies an earlier order regarding All India Quota counselling for medical education. The Court held that after unfilled seats in the second round of All India Quota are reverted, only States—not deemed or Central institutions—have the right to conduct second round counselling. The earlier mention of deemed/Central institutions was a mistake and has been deleted. The Court also extended the counselling completion deadline for Madhya Pradesh from 10.05.2018 to 15.05.2018, with mop-up round till 19.05.2018, recognizing the State's genuine difficulties in completing the process within the original timeframe.
