Raijibhai Bhikhabhai Parmar & Ors vs Reliance Industries Ltd. (Formerly Known As Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd.) & Anr

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

Employees of Reliance Industries challenged a High Court order requiring them to deposit the full amount of VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme) received upon cessation of employment as a pre-condition for the Labour Court to hear their dispute. The Supreme Court partly modified this direction, permitting the appellants to deposit only 50% of the gross VRS amount (excluding P.F. and Gratuity) within three months, after which the Labour Court would proceed to adjudicate the grievance within three months. The appeal was disposed of as partly allowed.
