Shyam Narayan Chouksey vs Union of India

Bench: 3 — <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>, <UNKNOWN>

In Brief

In this writ petition, the petitioner Shyam Narayan Chouksey challenged an earlier order of the Supreme Court. The National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD) applied to be impleaded as a party and sought exemption for specific categories of disabled persons from the scope of the Court's prior orders. The Court allowed NPRD's impleadment and partially granted the exemption request, directing that wheelchair users, individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, multiple disabilities, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, cured leprosy, muscular dystrophy, and deaf-blind persons be excluded from the ambit of the earlier orders. Other disability categories were referred to the Union of India for consideration. The recall application was deferred to the final hearing.
