The Supreme Court reversed a High Court's acquittal of three accused charged with murder under Sections 302 and 302 r/w 34 IPC. The trial court had convicted them based largely on the testimony of an eyewitness (PW1) who was present at both the attack site and where the deceased was fatally injured in a shed. The High Court acquitted the accused citing procedural irregularities and non-examination of the original complainant. The Supreme Court held that a conviction can stand on a sole eyewitness's credible testimony, even without weapon recovery or examination of the original informant. The Court restored the trial court's conviction and sentence of life imprisonment.
