In Brief
In a protracted matrimonial dispute involving custody of a minor child, the Supreme Court facilitated a settlement agreement between Sudarsana Rao Gadde and Karuna Gadde dated 1 August 2017. The parties, present before the Court with their child, consciously agreed to divorce by mutual consent and settled all matters of custody and visitation. The Court dissolved the marriage under Section 10A of the Indian Divorce Act, 1869, disposed of pending family court proceedings in accordance with the settlement, and restrained the parties from instituting fresh disputes without the Court's express permission.
