Vidya and two others were convicted of murdering a man (Anandaraman) through conspiracy. Vidya had married the victim against her will but desired to be with Accused No. 1. She conspired with Accused Nos. 1 and 2 to kill him during a honeymoon trip to Kerala. The accused lured the victim to a remote location, where Accused Nos. 1 and 2 strangled and smothered him and robbed him of cash and valuables. The Supreme Court upheld their conviction, finding a complete chain of circumstantial evidence—the itinerary recovered from one accused, mobile phone records showing continuous contact, and recovery of stolen articles—conclusively established the conspiracy and murder.
