In this civil appeal concerning interpretation of the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, the Supreme Court found that two earlier Division Bench judgments—Prakash v. Phulavati and Danamma v. Amar—had conflicting opinions on Section 6 of the Act (as amended in 2005). Rather than decide the matter itself, the Court directed that the case be referred to the Chief Justice to constitute an appropriate Bench under the Supreme Court Rules to resolve the conflict between the Division Benches. The appeal was disposed accordingly.
