In Brief
This case involved challenges to the Delhi Judicial Services examination selection process for 2014, where only 15 candidates were selected from 659 who appeared in the mains examination, despite 80 advertised vacancies. The Supreme Court ordered revaluation of answer scripts by a former judge against benchmarks set by already-selected candidates. Upon revaluation, 12 additional candidates were called for interview, of whom 11 were selected. The Court emphasised that employers need not fill all posts if suitable candidates are unavailable, but approved procedural reforms to enhance examination transparency and fairness.
