The Delhi Development Authority appealed against dismissal of its land acquisition proceedings under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The Supreme Court found the case covered by established precedent against the DDA's position and dismissed the appeals. However, the Court granted the DDA a one-year period to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 11 of the Act. If no fresh notification is issued within this period, the DDA must return the land's physical possession to the original owner.
