In Brief
The Delhi Development Authority appealed against a ruling regarding land acquisition under the 2013 Fair Compensation and Resettlement Act. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, finding it covered by prior judgments against the appellant. However, the Court granted the Authority one year to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 11 of the Act. If no new proceedings are started within this period, the Authority must return possession of the land to the original owner.
