In Brief
This case involved Delhi Development Authority's challenge to the dismissal of land acquisition proceedings. The land was transferred after the Section 4(1) notification under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 but before the Section 6(1) declaration, causing the original proceedings to fail. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal but granted the Authority one year to restart acquisition proceedings under the 2013 Act. If no fresh proceedings are initiated within one year, the Authority must return physical possession to the owner.
