In Brief
The Delhi Development Authority appealed the High Court's decision declaring its land acquisition proceedings void. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeals, holding that the law (Section 24(2) of the RFCTLARR Act, 2013) already covered the issue. However, the Court gave the Authority a one-year grace period from the judgment date to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings by issuing a notification under Section 11. If the Authority fails to do so and remains in possession of the land, it must return physical possession to the owner. No costs were awarded.
