Govt. of NCT of Delhi and Anr vs Anoop Singh and Ors

Bench: 2 — Kurian

In Brief

The Government of NCT of Delhi appealed land acquisition orders that were covered by prior Supreme Court judgments already dismissing similar appeals by the Delhi Development Authority. The Court dismissed these appeals as covered by precedent. However, given the peculiar circumstances, the appellants were granted one year from the judgment date to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings by issuing a formal Notification under the 2013 Act. If no fresh proceedings were initiated within that year, the appellants had to return physical possession of the land to its owners. No costs were awarded.
