In Brief
The Delhi government and the Delhi Development Authority appealed against a decision that had invalidated their land acquisition proceedings. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, finding it covered by previous decisions already dismissing the Authority's pleas. However, recognizing the special circumstances, the Court granted a one-year period to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings complying with the 2013 Land Acquisition Act. If no fresh proceedings were initiated within this period, the original land owners would be entitled to resume possession of the land.
