In Brief
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) filed multiple consolidated civil appeals challenging the dismissal of land acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The Supreme Court dismissed all appeals as the issues were covered by an earlier precedent (Civil Appeal No. 8477 of 2016). However, the Court granted DDA a one-year grace period to re-initiate fresh land acquisition proceedings under Section 11 of the 2013 Act. If DDA fails to do so within this period, it must return physical possession of the land to the original owners. No costs were awarded.
