In Brief
The appellant challenged the High Court's refusal to modify the stringent security conditions imposed for bail. The Supreme Court found that investigation was complete, a chargesheet had been filed, and co-accused had already furnished Rs. 1 crore in combined security. The Court held that in the interest of justice, considering these special circumstances, the appellant's bail conditions could be modified. Rather than requiring substantial property security, the Court substituted the condition with a solvent property security of Rs. 15 Lakhs, to be furnished by a benevolent relative within one month, thus partly allowing the appeal.
