In Brief
The appellant sought reversal of a trial court's nullity decree that was overturned by the High Court. Before the Supreme Court, the parties agreed to mediate through the Supreme Court Mediation Center and reached an amicable settlement. The appellant paid Rs. 8,50,000 to the respondent. The Court found that continuing litigation was unnecessary. All related proceedings—including criminal cases under IPC sections 417, 406, 498A, 323, 504; matrimonial proceedings; and various High Court applications—were quashed and dismissed to give effect to the settlement.
