The Supreme Court upheld the validity of regulations introducing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate AYUSH courses (Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy) and the AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIA-PGET), holding that the Central Council of Indian Medicine has the authority to prescribe these entrance examinations as part of its power to maintain minimum standards of education. However, as a one-time exception due to the unusual circumstance that many students had already been admitted without meeting the NEET requirement based on interim court orders, the Court permitted such students to continue their studies if admitted before the specified deadlines, without setting a precedent for future admissions."
