In Brief
Delhi Development Authority (DDA) appealed against dismissal of its land acquisition proceedings. The Supreme Court found the legal issue was already settled by prior judgments and dismissed the appeal. However, the Court granted DDA a six-month period to reinitiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 24(2) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, provided DDA issues a fresh Notification under Section 11. If DDA fails to initiate fresh proceedings within this period, it must return physical possession of the land to the original owner. No costs were awarded."
