In Brief
The Delhi Development Authority appealed against orders in land acquisition proceedings. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, finding it covered by prior judgments on the same issue. The Court held that acquisition proceedings must comply with statutory timelines under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The appellant was granted one year to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings under Section 11 of the Act. If no new proceedings are started within this period, the authority must return possession of the land to the original owner.
