The Delhi Development Authority appealed against the dismissal of land acquisition proceedings. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, finding the issue was settled by prior precedent. However, the Court gave the Authority six months to restart the acquisition process by issuing a fresh notification under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. If no new proceedings were initiated within this period, the Authority would have to return possession of the land to its owner.
