In Brief
The Delhi Development Authority sought to pursue fresh land acquisition proceedings after a previous acquisition had been dismissed under the RFCTLARR Act 2013. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, holding it was covered by prior precedent. However, as a matter of grace, the Court gave the Authority one year to initiate fresh acquisition proceedings by formal notification. If no such proceedings were initiated within that period, the Authority was required to return the physical possession of the land to the original owner.
