The Supreme Court set aside a lower court judgment that allowed Special Education Teachers who qualified for CTET with below 60% marks under OBC category relaxed norms to compete for General category vacancies. The Court held that CTET requires unreserved candidates to score 60% marks. Since the respondents obtained their eligibility qualification under category-specific relaxed norms for OBC candidates, they cannot use this to compete for General category posts. The Court affirmed that eligibility standards are category-specific and cannot be transferred across recruitment categories.
